This dazzling multi-media concert celebrates the life and musicals of the composer-lyricist who wrote the scores for three of the biggest successes in Broadway history: Hello, Dolly!, Mame and La Cage Aux Folles. Under the musical direction of Nancy Maier, vocalists Adina R. Bloom and Patrick Janson present the words and music of a man who says he's had "a lifelong romance with the show tune" -- songs that are unashamedly optimistic and irresistibly hummable. Radio personality and musical theater historian Bill Rudman hosts the afternoon, charting what Herman calls the "amazing roller-coaster ride" of his career- from the hit musicals that are still performed all over the world, to much-admired cult shows like Mack and Mable and Dear World. Also included are songs from two Broadway musicals that boast strong Jewish themes: Milk and Honey (with its Beautiful "Shalom") and The Grand Tour."
