Cleveland Heights

Cleveland HeightsIn early 2008, playwright Keith Reddin and The Mandel JCC Arts & Culture Program began an exciting journey together– one that will culminate on stage in February, over a year later. The J commissioned Reddin to script a play in some way connected to the lives of early Jews in Cleveland. His first step was to interview several Jewish Clevelanders representing commercial, educational, religious and historical segments of the city. From their personal histories he conceived and wrote Cleveland Heights. After numerous private and public readings before Cleveland audiences, that script has grown into a story of the city – a story mirrored in the struggles of one fictional Jewish family.

Reddin, trained at Northwestern University and Yale School of Drama, has premiered works at theater companies across America, has penned successful stage, film and TV screenplays and has acted on the big screen and Broadway stage.  For this commission, Reddin adds a new dimension to his writing process by blogging his own journey at http://mjccnewplay.blogspot.com.

Cleveland Heights will be co-produced with Cuyahoga Community College-Easter Campus Theatre Arts and will be directed by Brian Zoldessy, Director of Tri-C Theatre East.
